AeroGarden is the first company in United States to come up with a quality indoor garden kit. The company claims that Miracle-Gro AeroGarden 7 employs a NASA proven growing technology. The main features of Miracle-Gro AeroGarden 7 are:

  • Automated, energy efficient grow lights
  • Soil-Free
  • Adjustable to 12 inch high growing area
  • Simple push-button control panel fully automates all garden functions
  • Pre-seeded grow pods
  • Liquid nutrients
  • Pre-set grow modes for lettuce, tomatoes/peppers, herbs, flowers along with a 24 hour light cycle

AeroGarden indoor garden kit is a good addition to your home. First of all, let me be very clear about one thing, if you are thinking of growing tomatoes along with lettuce and herbs, it simply won’t work. Tomatoes will take up a lot of room and your herbs will suffer and finally die. Grow them on separate units, that is the only solution.

The instruction manual for AeroGarden was pretty detailed and assembling the unit was a piece of cake. The seed kit comes with pre-seeded planting pods. You will get seven pods per kit for salad greens and herbs. However, you will get only 3 pods for tomatoes along with 4 hole plugs. 3 pods are enough as they take up a lot of room. You can use the hole plugs to prevent evaporation of water.

AeroGarden indoor garden comes with a water tank that can hold 1 gallon of water. The microcontroller inside AeroGarden regulates the water flow according to the amount required by the type of plant being grown. When the tank goes empty, a flashing red light will come on. The garden comes with a reflector and two compact-fluorescent lamps on the top. You can adjust the height of the reflector as the plant grows. The lamps will be turned on automatically according to the pre-programmed instruction.

You will get a bag of nutrient tablets which you should add to the water tank when the red light flashes. The best part of growing plants on this garden is that they are almost bug free. Tomatoes will never get any fresher than this. The instruction booklet is really helpful with detailed information on all cycles including planting, feeding and harvesting.

AeroGarden indoor garden is a nicely built product with extremely good results. However, I could spot one slight flaw with its design. With time, the pump slightly becomes noisy. Some other users too have reported this issue. However, the problem was solved when the replacement pump came in, the issue never came back. But the replacement took some time coming, it took 2 weeks to arrive due to back orders. I have no complaints against their customer service though, they were really helpful in understanding and dealing with the issue.Do not expect all the seeds to perform well; you will get some highs and lows. Eventually everything evens out I guess, some yield more and some less.

Overall AeroGarden indoor garden is a nicely designed, good looking and a good yielding product.

Pros

  • Easy to assemble
  • Automatic controls
