Brother XL 3750 Review

Sewing Machine Reviews Recommendation Level : MODERATE

It comes with 35 built-in stitches and 73 stitch functions. It has 25 years limited warranty. It is a great sewing machine for novice sewers. Intermediate sewers will also find this one pretty useful. It comes with a cloth carrying case as well.

User Manual

Brother XL 3750 comes with a bilingual user manual in English and Spanish. Setting up this machine is pretty easy and the instructions are very clear. It won’t take more than 5 min to set up this sewing machine. The manual comes with almost all troubleshooting tutorials. The diagram based charts make it easy to understand.

Usability

This sewing machine is incredibly light, so portability won’t be an issue at all. The automatic needle threader works like a magic. The reverse stitch button works perfectly as well. It performs well with heavier fabrics, but you must get an appropriate needle for heavy fabrics as the standard needle may break. This machine doesn’t make a lot of noise compared to other sewing machines under the same category.  Stitches come out looking great on this machine.

Snap-on presser feet functionality is another advantage. The foot pedal is very responsive, it adjusts well to the pressure changes. You can change the stitch, stitch width and stitch length using the dial in-front of the machine. You can easily convert the work area to wide for quilting tasks. I would have loved to have a longer cord for the foot pedal, it is way too short I guess.

Limitations

Some buyers have reported tension problem, which can be fixed easily by reading troubleshooting tutorials or by calling customer support. The in-built LED light is way too dim for my liking. And one more thing, this is not a computerized sewing machine.

Pros

  • Drop-in bobbin
  • Automatic needle threader
  • Easy to set up

Cons

  • Dim LED
  • Short foot pedal cord

Overall, Brother XL 3750 is a good choice if you sew regularly. If you are looking for an intermediate sewing machine with a reasonable price, you can consider this one. But this is not a fancy, computerized sewing machine from Brother. It still has its limitations. If you can spend some more dollars, you can consider Brother CS6000i which is computerized and comes with more advanced features. It has good customer reviews as well.
