SINGER 7256 Review

Sewing Machine Reviews Recommendation Level : HIGH

Singer 7256 is the brother of Singer 7258. Singer 7256 has more or less the same features except for the number of built-in stitches. This one has 70 built-in stitches whereas Singer 7258 has 100 of them. It comes with a 25 years limited warranty.

User Manual

This sewing machine comes with an incredibly detailed user manual. It explains all the included stitches in detail. The user manual includes an instructional DVD as well.

Usability

This is an electronic sewing machine.Along with all those 70 built-in stitches, it also comes with 6 fully automatic 1 step buttonholes. The easy to load top drop-in bobbin with clear cover enables you to monitor the thread supply.

It comes with a nice little storage compartment, where you can keep all your sewing accessories.

The machine is pretty light as well, it weighs around 14.5 pounds. You can easily carry this sewing machine by the handle, a huge advantage if you want to take the machine to your classes. The threading system on Singer 7256 makes threading very easy, thanks to the automatic needle threader. It really saves time. You can adjust select stitches in length up to 6mm and in width up to 7mm. It can stitch at a speed of 750 stitches/min. The machine operates quietly and smoothly.

Singer 7256 will automatically adjust the stitch length and width for you. So guess work is not required. It does a very good job on thick and thin fabrics. Needle up down feature is great help. The stitches come out pretty on this machine.

Limitations

The LED work light is very dim to be honest. It has now become a feature of Singer sewing machines. Most Singer models have very poor work light. Singer! Fix it! Another fix I would love is a feature to manually adjust presser foot pressure.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Lightweight
  • Quiet and smooth operation
Cons

  • Dim LED work light
  • No manual adjustments for presser foot pressure
Overall, Singer 7256 is a good sewing machine for an intermediate sewer. I really like this machine for its performance and features. One more thing I need to remind you is about the price. Sometimes the price of this machine is similar to that of Singer 7258, which is a far more superior machine than 7256. So compare the prices of both the machines before you buy. If the price difference is just a couple of dollars, always go with Singer 7258.
