J.A Henckels 13-piece knife set is a good set for the price they offer. First of all, let me tell you one thing, this is not a premium set at all (and for the price they offer, you can’t expect one). If you are looking for a premium knife set, you will have to move up J.A Henckels line of products. We all know Germans make the best steel and all Henckels premium knives are German made, however this one is from China. Even though the steel is made in China, this 13-piece knife set is fully covered under J.A Henckels’ lifetime warranty against defects.
This knife set from J.A Henckels is fully worth of the money spent (especially if you can forget where the steel is made from). All the knives are very sharp, easy to grip and good looking (I always love good looking things, you have to look good even if you are a knife lol).These are stamped knives unlike the expensive premium ones which are forged. The steel does not go all the way to the handle. The handles are made of polypropylene.
The knives cut through stuffs quite easily, chef’s knife and steak knife cuts really well. All the knives fit well in the hardwood block. J.A Henckels say that the knives are dishwasher safe, no they are not. You will destroy the edges if you put it in dishwasher. But I don’t mind that for a knife set that comes under $50 price category. The sharpness remains unchanged for long period of time, at least that is what you expect from a quality knife and this set qualifies in that case.
The serrated edges are really sharp; you have to take extra care while cleaning. This is the best knife set you can get for the price they offer. Highly recommended, especially if you are looking for an inexpensive quality knife set.
