LS2350 is a very basic sewing machine designed for beginners. It seems Brother has already discontinued this model. I will never recommend a discontinued sewing machine, even if the manufacturer provides technical support and service. This machine is slowly disappearing from online shopping sites as well. Never mind, let us go through its features and stuffs.
Brother LS2350 has 2 built-in stitches and 20 stitch functions. Dials are provided for adjusting stitch length and width. There is a built-in light for sewing in the dark. It is free arm capable, so you can easily sew cuffs and collars. There is a small little storage compartment for storing your accessories. It has 3 needle positions. A lever is provided to engage reverse sewing. It has an automatic bobbin winding system. The machine is pretty light, weighing just around 12 pounds.
Usability
Brother LS2350 is a kind of machine that will get you going in the sewing world. It is like those tricycles that we get as a kid. It will get you going, but soon you will be wanting a bigger bicycle. This is a simple machine. It is easy to thread and easy to use. Overall quality of stitches are satisfactory.
Limitations
Brother LS2350 is pretty limited in functions, a creative person do not need a lot of time to outgrow this machine. It doesn’t have any decorative stitches to have fun.
The side-loading bobbin is not a great thing for beginners, a top drop-in bobbin would have done a world of good.
Is It Worth Buying ?
It is not the ability of Brother LS2350, that makes it a good beginners sewing machine, it is the low price point. The low price is because it is discontinued. I won’t recommend a discontinued model to my readers. Other models I can suggest are the Brother LS2125i and Brother XM2701. Brother LS2125i has 10 built-in stitches and it is one of the mostly bought sewing machines in US. Brother XM2701 is a recently released sewing machine, it is an absolutely wonderful sewing machine for the price. It has 27 built-in stitches and advanced features like automatic needle threader, drop-in bobbin etc. Being a new model, Brother has currently priced it very well.
